I've known the Potter family, or I should say the Potter family have known me since I was a young (and slightly annoying) girl! Ryan worked for my dad at CAJ, and my sister Lauren and I used to bug him while he was working outside. Fast forward a bit and Ryan has not only been my middle school youth leader, teacher, and friend, he has gotten married to the beautiful Nelle and had four absolutely adorable kids. While I was still living in Japan I got to babysit their oldest two munchkins pretty regularly, and every time I come back home to Japan I always look forward to meeting their newest kiddos, and seeing how much their eldest two have grown!
This family is not only adorable, they are incredibly fun. The Potters are intentional with the way they parent and speak and their children are imaginative and fun because of it! After our photoshoot I got to climb up into the Potter kids attic play room and play house with them. It was so much fun stepping into their imaginative play for a bit.
This past year the Potters had their newest little baby and although the pregnancy and birth was not what they expected, they have shown positivity and trust in God’s plan through it all. When the Potters asked me to photograph their family up at their cabin in Takayama I couldn’t have said yes faster. I It was such an honour to photograph the Potters in a place that means so much to me and my family too. I know I love looking back at photos of our family in our cabin and I am hoping these Potter children will look back at these photos someday too.
